Make People Pay MORE Attention to Your Stuff

Here’s an easy trick to make your content instantly more appealing. This is about how to make people instantly pay attention.

I found out this was the key reason so many ads from businesses don’t perform. Not because of how cheap the product is, not because of how cool the website looks…

It’s about the way you grab people’s attention. I used to run an Instagram account as an affiliate for a company, and managed to get 200K+ views on one video..

What shocked me was that the majority of people scrolled past the video in the first 3 to 5 seconds.

That’s why if you want to get more customers and more sales…

You Have 3 Seconds to Grab Their Attention

Why is this important?

If your perfect customer sees any of your content - could be your ads, website, or even your email - a lot of them won’t get through it if it doesn’t grab their attention.

So that’s why The Headline Makes or Breaks your Marketing Results

Had an ad from a real estate agent, he’s been running it for a while. His headline was “In for a dollar...”

Well… do you know what he’s talking about?

If you do, fantastic, but most people don’t. His perfect customers most likely don’t.

His stance was “Oh yeah it super makes sense, only if you read the ad and what the ad was about”.

The truth is, they’ll never get past the first 3 seconds. It’s like having the coolest 3 second ending in the most booooring 5 hour movie - no one. Will get to the end.

It’s the same with headlines. It’s the same with any message. Headlines are a key, crucial aspect to get more people to see your stuff. Why? Because it makes them want to pay attention.

Something that made sense was a chiropractor ad: “Finally, 3 Simple Solution to Crippling Back Pain”

I have to admit it’s not in the highest echelons of marketing intellectuality - but it’s easy, it makes sense.

2 Tests for Headlines that Grabs Attention

Test number 1. Does it answer the question of “What’s In It For Me?” for the customer?

It’s always a good idea to put yourself in the shoes of your customers, and talk in a way that resonates with them.

Let’s say you’re a window cleaning business, you can either say “Trusted Window Cleaner in Tri-Cities”.

Or you could try “Get Sparkling Clean Windows with Satisfaction Guaranteed”

Which one of these answers the WIIFM question?

Test number 2. Can the headline get customers without the ad? If a headline stood alone by itself, would it get calls from potential customers?

A pressure washing business’s advertising headline could be:

1. “Best Pressure Washing in Tri Cities, Trusted and Locally Owned”

Or

2. “Need Pressure Washing? We Guarantee Results in 1 Visit - Or We Come Back Free”.

Quick summary:

  • Headline grabs people’s attention

  • 2 simple tests to find good headlines

    • 1. Answers “What’s In It For Me?”

    • 2. Can it stand on its own?

Anyway, if you’d like to know which headline above will perform better… I’ll tell you how to figure that out in the next article.

Hope this helps.
